Well, folks, it's been a minute since I've done these, but this episode is just dying for me to pick it apart and get to its juicy center! So, here goes.
SPOILER ALERT FOR 4X17. DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED. THANKS.
Also not in chronological order of actions, this is mainly just my thought process on it... totally unprofessional I know, but it makes sense... right?
The episode takes place only in 2061 which is really interesting on its own. We haven't really ever gotten an episode like this before, and having everything laid out in a linear point was really cool.
When the episode starts we're instantly faced with Melinda's death. Much to my surprise, Michaela is a puppet of the Source. While I wasn't super uber surprised about Michaela's loyalties (because of Jo's eagerness to kill her) I was surprised that she was the one who ended up killing Melinda. Especially considering the fact that Michaela ended up going to Magic School where Melinda's family works... Whatever triggered her change in alliances must have been huge, because that girl is one messed up Firestarter.
Anyway, Jo witnesses Melinda's death (ouch) and lashes out at her mother. While I felt bad for Prue I really couldn't feel too bad for her, because she could have stopped Michaela's fireball on her own. The girl has like, a billion powers but couldn't stop Michaela? Though, it was oddly satisfying when Prue killed Michaela and left me puzzled at where Prue's loyalties really are. She's dark like she was when infected by Gadreel but still has her humanity, something she would be lacking if she were really truly Evil. This really parallels Phoebe when she was Evil, right down to the tonic being fed to Prue by Ruby.
On other news, Pierce is keeping his father locked in the dungeon so he can torture him. Fun! I'm glad we got clarity on Pierce's paternity since I was beginning to suspect that Liam or someone else was the father. Although, my heart aches for Damon and the torture he has had to endure - both physically and mentally. This does leave me wondering why the remaining Destined Ones and company didn't spring him? I get that he was in the Source's home and everything, and it would have been hard, but that's Damon! Our little Manticore baby with the creep tongue... poor Damon. Anyway, Pierce clearly has Mom and Dad issues and it was really nice when Prue visited Damon and seemed to comfort him.
Anyway, Prue attended the funeral and is friends(?) with Aisling, and that is one relationship that I found fascinating. The characters play off each other really well in the form of dialogue and attitude, and they both know their power and worth. Ruby, on the other hand, just pissed me off. More on her later. Prue downs the tonic and is requested by the Source in his chambers. Prue ignores him which was awesome and totally Prue. The sassy-Evil Prue is my favorite. Then, my favorite scene came around... When Michaels wants to stay looking beautiful like Prue and Aisling colossally shoots her down but gives her a (sarcastic?) promise. To be honest, Aisling probably knew that Michaela was going to die. Then, Prue crushed Michaela's heart and left her to die. It was just so satisfying. RIP Melinda.
Jo is dating David. Honestly, I was hoping that she wouldn't be in a relationship. It seems odd having them so close, but then again, that's the same feeling I had when Melinda (rip) started dating Liam. It felt off. This is one relationship I having my eye on.
The momentum leading up to the large reveal of who the Source is was huge, but even knowing that Wyatt ends up Evil is strange. I still feel like, even though Wyatt *thinks* he is in charge, that Ruby or another power is really the puppet master. Evil!Wyatt is intriguing. He has almost no empathy for his family and those around him, including his own sister. It reminded me of Cole when he was the Source. When and Prue used their powers on one another it made me think of the episode this season when they all lost their powers because of that very thing... What's different?
OH! And I almost thought that we had the BIGGEST reveal ever. Patience and Peri are Pyatt's daughters and it is awesome. I thought they would be Junior's daughters tbh. It never occurred to me that they could be Pyatt's! They are really dark and Evil which is awesome. They have this kickass power that I LOVE. Maybe we can convince Sol to give us the official name of it? Or should I just call it a giant glowy ball? That would make an awesome Wikia page name and make my spelling brain happy
Prue made a deal that if she ever told anyone about the real evil she would die, and after she told Matt she went home to Wyatt and died. RIP. Matt goes back to the Manor and plans to go back in time with trusty empath David, and with the flash of a ring, they are gone.
We were also slammed with a TON of deaths. While we only witness two, it felt like a hundred. Basically, all of the original Charmed Ones are dead or MIA (btw where is Prudence?) and their spouses are the same. Most of our favs like Melissa and Bianca are dead, and honestly, my heart can't take it. If this isn't fixed I might revolt. Maybe.
Side note: the reveals were done in a great way. The characters already knew everything so there weren't dramatic reveals or shocked faces. I liked the simplicity of the reveals, while still keeping us and the characters on their toes. I'm looking forward to the shocking reveals later in the season!

Ship Analysis
- Jo and David - Javid? Idk, we'll figure it out later. Anyway, Jo is dating an Empath named David. Honestly, I was hoping that she wouldn't be in a relationship, just because she didn't really have many sexual interests yet. It seems odd having them so close, but then again, that's the same feeling I had when Melinda (rip) started dating Liam. It felt off. This is one relationship I have my eye on.
.. - Piper and Leo - While they didn't make the top of the list, but my heart is crushed. My spirit ruined. My tears are a waterfall. They're dead. It was beautiful how one died of a broken heart.
- When we found out that Prue wanted the stone just so Wyatt couldn't have it. Seems to me, those two are having a few marital issues...
- Chris and ELLA - Okay, this one wasn't a HUGE surprise, because they were all cozy at the funeral and cozy + no Bianca = Cella! Extra cute points for a cute ship name. Anyway, they have a daughter and it's adorable and fluffy. If you don't count the fact that Bianca had to die for it to happen... Can we also talk about the fact that Ella is amazingly supportive of Chris' grief? Because that is really awesome and rare to find. Although, I would have preferred that it be someone new over Ella, just because we haven't seen her since Season 2 and she's
- Chris and Bianca - This one hurts. Bianca is dead. Cianca is over. My heart is broken. They also have a few more kids since the birth of Matthew, including Phoenix (Nix) who honestly has the best name.
So, that's it for now. If you want my opinion on anything else please let me know! I didn't cover everything mainly just the highlights. Also, who else thinks that the dark future would make a kick-ass web series??
Overall episode rating: B
Reason: While the plot flowed nicely and the characters shined in their respective rights, there were a few lines that didn't sit right and the death-reveal scene was informative, but also a little much. It would have been better to sprinkle it throughout, but I get why it wasn't written that way. Also, if weren't for Google I wouldn't have figured out the Terracotta Army plot, but that could just be because I wasn't taught history after 9th grade. Anywho, the episode flowed nicely and the concept was freaking cool and the reveals were done in a great way. Hence, the B!
