Found this at IMDB:
Can the Power of Three be passed on?
There are several instances on the show when the Power of Three has been passed on to another trio, so could it be passed on or even forcibly taken by another set permanently?
Melinda Warren's prophecy explicitly stated her family line would culminate in three sisters, that would be known as the Charmed One's. Her trip to the future proved that she was talking about Prue, Piper and Phoebe, as she states they are the ones she foresaw.
This was somewhat proven incorrect, as her family line culminated in four sisters, not three. It can be assumed that Melinda's power of premonition, though powerful - enough to see hundreds of years into the future, did not allow her see anything after the Original Charmed ones era.
Paige's ability to reconstitute the Power of Three and become a legitimate Charmed One in her own right, proves that the Power of Three has adapted and changed from the original prophecy and means that it had potential to exist beyond Prue.
Several trio's have, on occasion, taken the sisters powers and even used the collective power of three. So it defiantly has the ability to be wielded by others and can be used to the same effect as the actual Charmed Ones.
So i believe that there is potential for the power of three to be "passed" on? but how would it work?
Would the sisters have to die? Would that mean it would pass to their children? Pipers three children first and so on? While i think this is a possibility, it would definitely stay a unique trio and not duplicate for each sister (so Piper wouldn't create her own set of Charmed Ones and so one, so there would be three sets, that's definitely overkill)
OR
Could it exist in an unrelated trio?
For example, the sisters choose to relinquish their powers (permanently) and choose three powerful witches to receive their collective power of three? making them the Charmed Ones?
