I was shocked when they decided to end Mel and Niko's relationship. I was for sure it would've lasted longer. That was one of the show's main feats--that there would be a lesbian couple from the start and now its gone. I hope they find a way to bring Niko and Mel back together.

I mean this can't be the last we see of Niko and Mel together.

I liked that there were consequences of that decision (such as Mel not getting her job because of it).  It also put Macy on neo-Rex's radar.

You mess with Father Time and Father Time is gonna mess with you, as Mel found out.

Yeah, that was a good consequence. However, I'm also happy that the writers made Mel selfless in the episode. Niko meant a lot to Mel and the latter didn't want to Niko to die, so she made a huge sacrifice (her relationship and indirectly her happiness, her normal life [if you want to say]) to protect what meant the most, what made her happy.

It was good to see that the show is trying to not focus a lot (yet) on the sisters' romantic relationships like the original. Every time Piper and Leo's relationship was on the line, neither sacrificed the other (lost them but not from death) to protect them. It was almost always about keeping them together. Even in S1 and S2, they maybe stopped seeing each other but they still hung around together (even if it was magical business.) And ultimately they ended up together anyway.

I'm sorry, how are you enjoying the show? There's literally nothing good about it. The effects look like something off of Disney, the dialogue is cringy at best, the political and feminist angle is being shoved at viewers unnaturally instead of naturally, and the acting is mediocre. The plot/mythology doesn't make any sense, and it barely resembles the real Charmed at all. Plus, the ratings have been steadily decreasing ever since the pilot. It's currently dropped 28& in demographic and over 30% in views, hasn't trended since the Pilot and is the least watched CW show on YouTube and the CW tv. Don't get to attached, it will be done before the end of its season run.

I'll give you the political angle, but they seem to have toned that down.

As for the feminist one, well, considering the misogyny that went on behind the scenes of the original series, I can't blame them. 

I guess you've heard by now what Brad Kern was up to (he's one of those that MeToo brought down).  His actions drove a lot of talented writers away from the show, and it cost the show dearly in the later seasons, once Kern had seized power.

We have three sisters, who happen to be witches.  We have a Book Of Shadows.  We have a white lighter guide.  Sure resembles the original series to me.

Of course, some things are gonna be different.  This isn't 1998, it's twenty years later.

Plus, the ratings have been steadily decreasing ever since the pilot.

Did you factor in the DVR numbers.  It's doing quite well in those.

Considering the misogyny and fake-feminism going on behind the scenes of the reboot, you'd think they'd be a little less quick to throw it to the world. It's pretty bad if even Constance had to sue them.

At least it had rules and guidelines that were laid out for viewers every week. The reboot lacks this severely.

Apparently, Elders are now old witches? Elevated witches? Witches with immortality? Elders can have kids? But apparently not Macy, because she was "forbidden".

Whitelighters don't orb anymore which is whatever, it doesn't matter (let's pretend they aren't stealing from Harry Potter). But they also apparently don't remember their mortal life? But Harry has alluded to it in past episodes...? okay.

The sister didn't say an incantation to receive their powers, so what activated them? The mom's death? Macy arriving on the front doorstep? Why is it such a big deal if Niko knew about Mel? Plenty of innocents knew about the real Charmed Ones and that wasn't an issue.

Nothing in the show makes sense when you peel back the layers. Yes, Charmed had its flaws, but it was consistent in its rules and bases. As the show grew so did the mythology - this reboot doesn't have any ground rules set, or any mythology explained. Having these many questions this early on in the series is not a good sign for a show.

The core is the same (sisters, book, whitelighter), but the mythology, supernatural world, mortal world (in regards to the supernatural), etc. is very different. It doesn't have the same charmed vibe at all. It's more about them speaking about feminism, femininity, equality, and sisterly bonds without showing them bond or implementing these changes. The show likes to say they're sisters but doesn't show it in any way. They may argue and have control issues showcased but they never bond over non-magical issues. At least the Halliwell's had that going for them.

The ratings will continue to dip over the course of the next few episodes, they might spike back up around the mid-season finale but will ultimately continue to travel downward. It's already dragging Supergirl down, which means that the CW can see the impact that the reboot is having on viewers. Plus, all the BTS drama isn't good for publicity or the CW's "postive image".

Its only been five episodes. And I do remember seeing a sisterly bonding when they were on that bed, and showed Macy that video of their mother. That's a non-magical moment, for sure. What about in the latest episode when they said Harry could be a part of their family. Yes, he's a whitelighter, but he was introduced in the first episode but that gave his character more time to connect with the sisters. The sisters practically let him stay when he needs (or wants to) as seen when he came to use the shower, when he was ironing his pants and when he was making breakfast. Those are non-magical tasks so there has been some bonding through non-magical situations even if magic was indirectly involved.

I'm enjoying it, I gave it a chance and I'd like to see where it goes.

Rules that they broke whenever the lame plot needed them too.  The most flagrant one was in Hyde School Reunion, in which Phoebe and Paige set up Rick to be murdered, a direct violation of Protect the Innocent not punish the guilty.  

And don't say that there was no other way, there was (like Paige ORBING THE BLEEPING GUN).  The Halliwells have dealt with human villians in the past, without resorting to killing them.

We still don't know the full story as to why Marisol gave Macy up.  No doubt that will be revealed in a future episode.

I wouldn't accuse the reboot of stealing from Harry Potter, Jillian.  Not when the original series did it so blatantly.   Magic School was called "Not!warts" for a good reason.

It wasn't Niko knowing about Mel that was putting her in danger, that demon hit man was after her, because she was getting too close to finding out the truth.

And that mythology was all over the map, especially after Kern seized power.  Don't try to tell me that the original series mythology was constant all the way through, Jillian, it wasn't.

Besides, we're only a few episodes in.  Much too early to worry about an overall mythology.

What BTS drama?  You mean the tweets made by that crybaby, Holly Marie Combs?  No one takes her seriously anymore, she's just whining because they don't want to play with her anymore.  

Her attitude is doing nothing but costing her roles.  Rumour has it that she was up for the part of Jughead's mother on Riverdale, but got passed over because the CW isn't going to hire someone who is constantly trashing one of their other shows.
